Our Story

Like all iconic romances, we met on Tinder.

Per lore, Paige’s brother, Patrick (known for his refined taste), originally swiped right on Hans: in a weak moment during a family visit, Paige had offered her phone to her family to demonstrate how “odd the goods” are on the internet, and they obliged her by suggesting matches.

Blessedly, Eros clocked in that day, and Hans had swiped right on Paige, too. Paige thanks her lucky stars that Hans first messaged her with a real question, and not a “hey.”

While Hans lived in Fullerton at the time, a seemingly impossible 30 minute drive from Newport Beach, Paige was weary of ending each evening waking herself up to the sound of her own snores on her couch, only to meet eyes with her kitten, Pippa. She was hesitant to go out on another disastrous first date, but something about Hans’ “Santa Claus eyes” told Paige the trek was worth it. It was decided: they’d meet for beer and trivia at Bootleggers.

Though we began with a slow burn, over the next few years, we fell into a burnin’ ring of fire.

Early on, we decided we would keep it real with one another, running through the New York Times’ “36 Questions that Lead to Love” on one of our first dates, and jumping into difficult conversational topics. Paige was impressed by Hans’ “bearing,” big, patient, heart, and his willingness to hear out opinions much different than his own. Hans first developed a crush over Paige’s trivia prowess, but overtime, fell in love with how Paige thought of the world, with compassion and wit. “I hope this girl steals my sweaters for the rest of my life.” Meanwhile, Paige remarked at how warm, secure, and supported Hans always made her feel, describing Hans to her friends as a “wool sock of a man,” which somehow made its way into the nickname “Baby Sock,” coined by Amanda. Today, we call each other Hansel and Honey Bee.

While we met in Fullerton, we moved from Newport Beach to Huntington Beach, to Irvine, and now live in Albany, California, where Hans studies data science at UC Berkeley and Paige serves as corporate and securities counsel with San Francisco’s Block.

To this day, Hans takes his duty to make Paige laugh every day seriously, and Hans knows that, with Paige, adventure is always around the corner.

We hope you enjoy our gallery off pictures to take you down memory lane, including the transformation of Hans into an unapologetic cat dad.
